Let's get started! ##Ingredients **Crust** - 2¼ cups all-purpose flour - 1 tablespoon sugar - 1 teaspoon salt - 2 sticks (1 cup) cold unsalted butter, cut into small pieces - ⅓ cup very cold water **Filling** - 6 cups peeled, cored and thinly sliced Granny Smith apples - ¾ cup granulated sugar - 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour - 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon - ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg - ½ teaspoon salt - 2 tablespoons butter, cut into small pieces ##Instructions **Crust** **Step 1:** In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar and salt. **Step 2:** Using a pastry blender or two knives, cut in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. **Step 3:** Add the cold water, 1 tablespoon at a time, until the dough holds together when pressed. **Step 4:** Divide the dough in half, shape into two discs, wrap in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 1 hour. **Filling** **Step 1:** Preheat oven to 425°F. **Step 2:** In a large bowl, mix together the apples, sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. **Step 3:** Roll out one of the discs of dough to 1/8-inch thick. **Step 4:** Place the dough in a 10-inch cast iron skillet and trim the edges. **Step 5:** Pour the apple mixture into the center of the skillet and dot with butter. **Step 6:** Roll out the remaining disc of dough to 1/8-inch thick and place on top of the apple mixture. **Step 7:** Trim the edges and crimp the edges with a fork. **Step 8:** Cut 4 vents in the top of the crust. **Step 9:** Bake for 35-40 minutes, until golden brown. **Step 10:** Allow to cool before serving.
